Rewa FC and Labasa FC coaches have welcomed the deferment of the 2026 Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion (CVC) series, stating that the extra week of preparation will benefit both teams following significant squad changes.

Fiji FA announces that the 25th edition of the CVC has been postponed by a week and will now kick off on February 8.

Fiji FA stresses that Rewa FC, as Premier League champions and FMF IDC winners, will host Labasa FC, the Extra BOG champions, in the first leg at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

Rewa FC coach Priyant Manu emphasizes that the rescheduling was timely, especially after the club lost several players during the off-season.

Meanwhile, Labasa FC coach Alvin Chand notes that the extra week will allow them to prepare well for the two legs, particularly with new players in the squad following the departure of key players.

Fiji FA confirms that the second leg is provisionally scheduled for February 14 at Subrail Park, Labasa, pending confirmation from the Labasa Town Council regarding the venue’s readiness.

Fiji FA CEO Mohammed Yusuf states that the Labasa Town Council has until Wednesday to confirm the availability of Subrail Park adding if the venue is not cleared in time, the match will be moved to the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
