As BSP Life celebrates it 150th Anniversary, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says investments by the organisation directly translate into employment opportunities, capacity building for local communities, and sustainable economic returns for resource owners and ensure that tangible benefits are meaningfully shared across communities, villages, and families throughout Fiji, creating a living legacy of opportunity for future generations.
While speaking during the celebration at the Grand Pacific Hotel, Rabuka highlights that through the Yavu Collective and in partnership with Fiji Airways, they will open three new hotels over the next six months to complement its Sofitel asset on Denarau Island.
He also says a partnership with Dubai-based Kerzner International is planned to develop an ultra-luxury resort on Nacula Island in the Yasawas by 2029.
Rabuka says these developments will collectively elevate Fiji's position as a regional hub in the Pacific, further strengthening our tourism outlook on the international platform.
He says during peak periods, these major investments by BSP Life ensure that we have the world-class accommodation to meet growing demands and drive long-term economic growth.
Rabuka further says BSP Life's long-standing commitment to promoting financial security and long-term financial planning contribute directly to the national objectives of building a more inclusive, resilient, and financially empowered society.
The Prime Minister says by encouraging households to save, to invest, and plan for the future, the institution supports greater economic resilience at both the family and national levels.
He says as the nation's second-largest institutional investor after the Fiji National Provident Fund, the organisation plays a critical role in mobilising domestic savings and directing capital towards productive investments.
He says these investments support enterprise development, infrastructure, employment creation and broader economic activity, all of which are essential if Fiji is to achieve the sustained growth needed to realise its ambition of becoming a high-income economy by 2050.
Rabuka adds the government remains committed to working closely with responsible institutions such as BSP Life in advancing the priorities of the National Development Plan, expanding financial inclusion, strengthening economic resilience, promoting healthier communities, and increasing investment in the sectors that will drive sustainable growth.
BSP Life Group CEO Mark Robinson says they serve millions of customers through banking and insurance, united by a common purpose of championing prosperity for the South Pacific.
He says they recognize that the financial services landscape continues to evolve very rapidly, driven by changing customer expectations, emerging technologies and new market dynamics, both in Fiji, around the region and across the globe, customers expect greater convenience, more personalized services and sustainable value.
Robinson says BSP Life is investing in technology, strengthening its capabilities, optimising its group strengths and building for the future, while remaining true to the values that have earned the trust of generations of Fijians.
He says while technology continues to evolve, trust remains timeless.
Robinson says although the company is proud of its history, it is now entering the next chapter of its journey. He says the world ahead will be vastly different from the one it inherited, bringing new opportunities and challenges as a new generation of customers looks to institutions like BSP Life to help them achieve their aspirations.
