Marist Brothers High School field 98 athletes for Zone 2 meet

Coca-Cola games boys division champions and Zone 2 defending champions, Marist Brothers High School, will be fielding 98 athletes in the Suva Zone 2 competition tomorrow.

This has been confirmed by the Head of School, Asish Dayal, to fijivillage News this morning.

Dayal is keeping his cards close this year and says they flagstaff brigade are ready to compete tomorrow.

MBHS won the overall boys’ category at the Coca-Cola Suva Zone 2 competition, while Suva Grammar High School claimed the girls’ title.

Marist secured 29 gold, 26 silver, and 21 bronze, Suva Grammar finished second with 18 gold, 17 silver, and 15 bronze, while Jai Narayan College settled for third place with 2 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze.

In the Girls’ division, Suva Grammar dominated with 28 gold, 17 silver, and 14 bronze, St. Joseph’s Secondary School secured second place with 15 gold, 19 silver, and 17 bronze, and Nuku Secondary School finished third with 2 gold, 5 silver, and 1 bronze.

Meanwhile, the best male athlete award was awarded to John Vugakoto of Suva Grammar School, who broke an eight-year-old Sub-Junior high jump record with a leap of 1.65 metres.

He also won gold in the 4×100m relay and set new records in the triple jump and high jump.

For the girls’ category, the best female athlete award went to Noelahni Roden from St. Joseph’s Secondary School, competing in the senior division.
