The team that maintains discipline, minimises penalties and stays composed will have a better chance of lifting the Skipper Cup title, according to Fiji Rugby Union Head of Men’s High Performance Adriu Durutalo.

In an exclusive interview with fijivillage Sports, Durutalo highlighted that discipline will be a key factor when Nadi takes on Nadroga in the Skipper Cup final at Churchill Park in Lautoka today.

He says the competition has recorded a relatively high number of penalties per match, making discipline crucial for both teams.

Durutalo says whichever side settles into the match and minimises penalties will put itself in a stronger position to win.

The former USA Eagles Sevens player says Fiji has the potential to become the most disciplined team in world rugby if players remain direct and committed in their approach to the game.

Now settled into his new role as Head of Men’s High Performance, Durutalo says he is confident local players are ready for national selection if given the opportunity.

He says the Skipper Cup has reached the business end of the season, and he is impressed with the results players are achieving through their training and preparation.

Durutalo expects today's final to showcase running rugby, with both teams capable of moving the ball at pace for the full 80 minutes.

Nadi will face Nadroga in the final at 3pm today at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
