Two of Europe’s biggest heavyweights renew their rivalry this morning as 12th-placed Manchester City face 6th-placed Real Madrid in a crucial UEFA Champions League - League Stage clash.
Today marks the 15th meeting between the clubs since their first encounter in the 2012–13 season, making it the competition’s most-played matchup in that span.
City enter the match with a point to prove as the English champions have lost their last two meetings with Real Madrid, falling both home and away in last season’s play-off round.
As both teams push to secure vital points in the League Stage, all eyes will be on whether City can break Madrid’s recent hold over them, or if the Spanish giants continue their dominance in one of Europe’s fiercest modern rivalries.
City takes on Madrid in the next hour.
