Former Suva lawyer Shazran Abdul Lateef has pleaded guilty to being in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana in December 2019.
The trial was earlier vacated after Police reported that they could not locate the physical drug exhibits or the documentary records.
Police Prosecutor Inspector John Tupua tendered the forensic certificate in court today, after which Lateef decided to plead guilty to the charge.
Lateef was found with 1.8 grams of methamphetamine and 4 grams of marijuana on 10th December 2019.
A police vehicle had followed him from Milverton Road due to suspicion before stopping him and taking him to Totogo Police Station, where a search resulted in the drugs being found.
Lateef is already serving a prison sentence of three years and eight months for a separate conviction involving the unlawful possession of 9.5 grams of methamphetamine and 3.5 grams of marijuana.
Inspector Tupua intends to make submissions in court for a custodial sentence to be served after Lateef completes his current sentence.
The matter has been adjourned to 18th September for sentencing and a mitigation hearing.
