Fiji will host the Prime Minister’s Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Cup in late September, coinciding with a FIFA international window.
Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel says that the tournament could feature the Bula Boys in two international matches, with more details to be confirmed closer to the event.
Looking ahead to the June FIFA international window, the Fiji Men’s national football team is set to host Bangladesh for an international friendly.
Patel says discussions are ongoing to arrange a Tri-Nations tournament, with Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) expressing interest, and Hong Kong also requesting a match against Fiji.
He says Fiji FA is working to finalise the participating teams to ensure the national team gains maximum exposure during the June window.
He also emphasised the importance of hosting international matches at home, both for player development and to raise the standard of football in Fiji.
