Affiliated members, districts, and regional clubs are reminded to adhere to the governance and disciplinary processes outlined in the Fiji Football Association’s constitution and are warned against resolving football disputes on social media.

Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel is cautioniing officials and members to exercise responsibility when engaging on social media platforms, stressing that football matters must be handled through proper internal channels.

Patel emphasises the importance of being careful when operating on social media, adding that anyone found contributing to football-related disputes online will be subject to disciplinary action.

He reiterates the need for members to follow the processes outlined in the statutes.

He also notes that the Fiji FA Council Meeting allowed for open and transparent dialogue with district officials, where questions and concerns were addressed directly.

Patel further highlights the association’s firm stance on protecting the integrity of football, mentioning that the Fiji FA is currently involved in an ongoing defamation-related case involving a former minister.

Meanwhile, Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Yusuf reinforced the President’s remarks, urging districts and officials to respect the governance framework set out in the organisation’s constitution.

He stresses that if any issues arise, districts should not turn to social media to resolve them, as they must follow the proper processes provided within the constitution.

Yusuf adds that disciplinary action would be taken against officials who attempt to resolve disputes publicly online.

Yusuf further states that the Fiji FA statutes provide sufficient mechanisms for addressing grievances and disputes.
