Bula FC is set to benefit from the experience and leadership of national, Nadi and Navua FC representative Filipe Baravilala, who has signed a contract with the club for the inaugural OFC Professional League starting next month.
Originally from Nawaisomo Village in Beqa, Baravilala moved to Nadi at a young age, where his football journey truly began.
He attended Sabeto Sangam Primary School before going to high school at Nadi Sangam College, balancing school with a growing passion for the game.
Bula FC says while in Form 4, Baravilala broke into the Nadi youth setup and quickly progressed to the Nadi FC senior team, also earning selection into the Fiji U17 side.
They say in 2015, Baravilala made the move to the capital, joining Suva FC, where he enjoyed a long and successful spell from 2015 to 2023, establishing himself as a reliable and composed performer at the highest domestic level.
He later featured for Navua during the 2024–25 season, continuing to contribute his experience on and off the pitch.
On the international stage, Baravilala has worn the Fiji colours with pride at U20, U23 and senior level.
A major highlight of his career came in 2016, when he was part of the Fiji U23 team that qualified for the Rio Olympics.
Baravilala says he is grateful and motivated as he enters the next chapter of his career.
While acknowledging God for his talent, strength and opportunities, Baravilala says he is proud of what he has achieved over the years and he hopes to do more with Bula FC.
He has also thanked his family, especially his partner, for all the sacrifices she has made and the constant support she has given her throughout his journey, adding his belief in him has been everything, and he is grateful.
Bula FC will make history by playing in the opening match of the first-ever OFC Professional League.
The team departs Fiji on 14th January and will face Vanuatu United FC on 17th January at Eden Park in Auckland.
They will then play South Island United on 20th January and Auckland City FC on 23rd January in the opening series.
