With just a few days to go for the 2025 Weet-Bix Raluve Competition semi-finals this Saturday, the Ratu Latianara College Under-16 team has amped up their training along the beach, carrying sacks of sand and tyres as part of their preparation.

Speaking to fijivillage Sports, head coach Ratu Seru Kuliyalavou says their Assistant Principal has provided the players with some dumbbells, along with some equipment from the Serua Dragons team, which is being used to improve the players’ strength and fitness.

Ratu Seru also highlighted that last week, the Vunivalu of Serua bought a set of gym equipment for the team to assist in their preparation.

He says qualifying for the semi-finals for the first time is a big achievement for the girls.

The head coach says the players are constantly reminded to remain humble and to focus on their goals, starting from the basics.

He is urging parents, guardians, and old scholars to come out in numbers and support the team, as this will boost the girls’ morale on the field.

Ratu Latianara will meet Adi Cakobau School at 11am at Buckhurst Park.

In another semi-final,Sigatoka Methodist College will face Dreketi Central College at 10.10am at the HFC Bank Stadium.

In the U18 semi finals, Jasper Williams High School will play at 1.30pm at Buckhurst Ground, while Natabua High School will meet MGM High at 2.20pm at the HFC Bank Stadium.

In the U18 Vodafone Super Deans semi-final at the HFC Bank Stadium, Nasinu Secondary will take on Natabua High School at 3.30pm, and Suva Grammar School will take on Ratu Kadavulevu School at 5pm.
