NRL CEO Todd Greenberg says Eels wing Semi Radradra and Sharks premiership winner Andrew Fifita were not considered for Kangaroos selection because of their off‑field issues.
Fifita is currently being investigated by the integrity unit after wearing an armband supporting someone convicted of a violent offence while Radradra is facing charges over domestic violence allegations.
Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga says he supported the strong stance because those wearing the green and gold are the game's greatest ambassadors.
The Kangaroos will play the Kiwis at 11pm next Saturday.
