The Namosi women’s rugby team have booked their place in the Subrail Marama Cup final after defeating Nasinu 30-21 in a thrilling and closely contested semi final encounter.

Namosi started strongly, with veteran playmaker Rusila Nagasau leading her side with composure and direction in the opening stages of the match.

In the 16th minute, Nasinu’s open-side winger Vilimaina Naitika broke through Namosi’s defense with a brilliant run down the flank to score under the posts.

Her try was successfully converted by fly-half Adi Ana Lutunaua, giving Nasinu an early 7-0 lead.

Nasinu suffered an early setback when their dynamic hooker Ana Gade was forced off the field with a knee injury after an impressive 15-minute performance that featured several strong line breaks.

Namosi responded in the 19th minute with a penalty kick from their fullback to narrow the deficit to 7-3.

On the 27th minute, Namosi’s veteran from Vakativa, Rusila Nagasau, crossed the try line to score her team’s first try.

Viniana Ravai added the extras to give Namosi a 10-7 lead, which they extended slightly to 13-7 at the halftime break.

Nasinu struck first in the second half through blindside flanker Emi Liliobo, reclaiming the lead at 14-13.

However, Namosi quickly answered back when prop Sibora Nika powered over for another try, shifting momentum back in their favor.

Namosi continued to dominate in the closing stages, adding 17 more points to seal a hard-fought 30-21 victory.

With this win, Namosi advance to the Subrail Marama Cup final, where they will face the winner of the second semi final between Suva and Kadavu.
