Former heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker

Former heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker could be facing a two-year ban after traces of cocaine were discovered in a routine test given to the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) on the day of his defeat to Britain's Fabio Wardley last month.

According to Sky Sports, the test was conducted on the day of the New Zealand heavyweight's fight against Wardley, which the Briton won.

The news of Parker's failed test only emerged on Friday.

Frank Warren's Queensbury Promotions stated that the Association informed all required parties that

Parker returned an adverse finding following an anti-doping test conducted on October 25, in relation to his bout with Wardley.

They say while the matter is still being investigated, no aditional comments will be made.

Parker's UK manager Spence Brown stated that they were in total shock at the findings, and are waiting to speak to Parker and his promoter, Frank Warren.
