18-year-old Elina Drikibau says as the youngest player in the Fiji Pearls team, it’s a blessing for her to represent Fiji in such a big tournament like the Netball World Cup.

Drikibau, who will be playing on wing attack, says she learned a lot from the senior players during their camp and this had built her confidence and skills on the field.

Drikibau is currently a Year 13 student at Suva Grammar School, and she is part of the Lomaiviti Netball Club.

Meanwhile Fiji Netball CEO Vivian Koster acknowledged the Motibhai Company for providing the team cosmetic set which is a great contribution to their campaign in Cape Town.

Motibhai Group Marketing and Business Development Manager Abraham Gomes says they are not a big sponsor, but they always support the sportsmen, sportswomen and athletes when they leave our shores for international events.

Gomes wishes the team the very best in all their games.

Fiji’s first match is against Tonga next Friday, followed by Zimbabwe next Saturday and they will play Australia on July 30th.

The Pearls will be leaving our shores this Thursday for Cape Town.

The Netball World Cup will feature 16 teams and will take place from July 28th to August 6th.

New Zealand is the defending champion.
