Paralympic Gold Medalist and Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports, Iliesa Delana officiated at three medal ceremonies in the Paralympics at the Rio Olympic Stadium in Brazil yesterday.
Delana had the opportunity to congratulate medallists of the men’s T42 high jump, the same event in which he won gold at the 2012 London Paralympic Games.
The Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports also officiated in the medal ceremonies for the men's 100 metres and the men's discus throw.
Delana says he was amazed at their performance particularly Mariyappan Thangavelu, the 2016 winner from India who jumped 1.89m and beat Delana’s London mark of 1.74m.
