Byrne lays down the challenge for the players in terms of fitness

Fiji Water Flying Fijians coach Mick Byrne has laid down the challenge for his players to turn up as fit as they can ahead of their July test matches against the Wallabies and Scotland, as well as the Pacific Nations Cup, as he tries to build up his best team for the next Rugby World Cup in 2027.

While speaking on fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan, Byrne says if they can turn up as fit as they were when they played Australia at the beginning of their Rugby World Cup campaign in 2023, everything else is a bonus and that is their challenge.

He says if they can pass this challenge, the Flying Fijians have a legitimate chance to take another step.

Meanwhile, the 32-member Flying Fijians squad will assemble next Thursday before they fly out to Newcastle, Australia on Friday.

They will take on the Wallabies at 3.30pm on the 6th of July.

They will then travel back home to take on Scotland at 3pm on the 12th of July at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
