The NSW Blues have avoided a series sweep, surging to a 24-10 win over the Queensland Maroons in front of over 75,000 fans at Accor Stadium last night.

Brad Fittler’s future as Blues coach may remain a question mark but a number of bold selection calls from the 51-year-old paid off in game three, highlighted by a double to debutant Bradman Best.

It was Best’s quick hands though that proved even more important than his two tries, opening up space for speedster Josh Addo-Carr to light it up for the Blues in his best game of the series.

James Tedesco also rewarded Fittler for his loyalty with a classy display at the back while South Sydney trio Cody Walker and Cameron Murray connected seamlessly in attack.

Walker, who replaced Panthers five-eighth Jarome Luai, was named man of the match while Maroons forward Reuben Cotter was judged to be the player of the series.

Whatever the future may hold for Fittler, he can at least celebrate one final time regardless as the Blues restored some pride and the Maroons rued a host of missed opportunities.
