Eight Fijian players, including former England winger and Bath utility back Semesa Rokoduguni, will feature in the British Army team from England for the curtain-raiser match ahead of the Fiji Water Flying Fijians versus Scotland clash next month.

The announcement was made by the British Army team management during a press conference today.

In a historic first, the Republic of Fiji Military Forces rugby team will face off against the British Army in what is being described as both a sporting contest and a symbol of ongoing development and camaraderie.

RFMF Rugby President, Colonel Penioni Naliva says the match goes beyond sport, it reflects the deep-rooted defence relationship and shared values between the two military forces.

He says the RFMF’s ties with the British Army date back to the First and Second World Wars, and rugby is now being used as a vehicle to further strengthen those bonds while promoting the values inherent in the game.

Col. Naliva described the fixture as a celebration of military brotherhood, rugby diplomacy, and a showcase of the rich rugby talent for which both forces are renowned.

The British Army team is scheduled to arrive in Fiji on July 11th, with the highly anticipated match against the RFMF taking place the following day on July 12th at 12pm at the HFC Bank Stadium, Suva.
