Lautoka City Council rolls out solar-powered CCTV cameras to boost public safety
PC: Lautoka City Council

People in Lautoka will have greater access to CCTV surveillance, with the Lautoka City Council installing solar-powered cameras at key locations across the city.

The Council says three solar-powered CCTV cameras have so far been installed at Nede Street, Tukani Street and Veve Street.

It says the installations are part of efforts to enhance public safety and security across the city.

The Council says the cameras are currently in the testing phase, which will allow it to assess their performance, coverage and effectiveness in the identified areas.

It says a further five solar-powered CCTV cameras are planned to be installed this month, with additional installations to continue progressively each month.

The installations are being carried out under the direction of Acting Chief Executive Officer Taitusi Rasoki Kata.
