16 vendors bring food, fun and community spirit to GESA Market Day

GESA Market Day draws strong turnout with 16 vendors and more expected to join todays event.

The Gospel High School Ex-Scholars Association (GESA) second Market Day is underway today, with strong support from families and members of the public.

GESA Committee Member and Team Lead for Day 1, Raksha Priya, says the event was initially planned to have 13 vendors, but 16 vendors are already taking part, with another five expected to join.

Priya, who is a former Gospel High School student from the 2001 year group and a member of the 65th Sapphire Committee, says todays Market Day was organised following the popularity of last weeks event.

She says the event was scheduled to start at 9am, but vendors were ready early, so it started at 8am.

Priya says the turnout has been good, with families coming together for breakfast and lunch, while some are also buying food to take home for dinner.

She says a range of food and other items are available, including chicken pulao, chicken curry, barbecue, fusion food, cakes and pastries, jewellery and household items.

There is also a coffee corner where people can enjoy tea or coffee, particularly with the cool weather.

Priya says Gospel High School merchandise is also available, including general merchandise and T-shirts for the upcoming march.

She says the Market Day is scheduled to finish at 4pm, although last week’s event saw food sell out by around 12.30pm.

Priya says there are also many other activities planned through to November, with different teams working on various events and activities.

She says while the Market Day is being held today, another team is at the high school cleaning the hall, while other activities are also taking place elsewhere.

Priya is encouraging people in the Suva-Nausori corridor, including those around Samabula, as well as people travelling to or from work, to stop by the Market Day.

She says people are likely to find something they have been craving or something they can look forward to enjoying.
