Yat Sen and Saint Joseph Secondary School win U19 basketball titles

Yat Sen Secondary School and Saint Joseph’s Secondary School have been crowned the new Under 19 boys and girls champions respectively in the Fiji Secondary School Basketball Championship.

Yat Sen Secondary beat Marist Brothers High School 16‑12 in the final while Saint Joseph’s Secondary School defeated Yat Sen Secondary School 17‑11 to claim the girls title.

Yat Sen U19 boys Head Coach, Earl Hughes thanked the team for their hard work and dedication put into preparations before the tournament.

Hughes says that the team only had a week to prepare, with home and away games throughout the school term which helped the team run their set plays.

In the Under 17 grade, Saint Joseph’s Secondary School has won the girls final beating Suva Grammar School 30‑5 in the final while Marist defeated Natabua High School 24-16 to claim the U17 boys title.

Marist Brothers High Schhol U17 team

In the U15 grade Suva Grammar School and Marist Brothers High School won the girls and boys titles respectively.

Suva Grammar School beat Yat Sen Secondary School in the Under 15 girls final 35‑13 while in the Under 15 boys final Marist beat Swami Vivekananda College 21‑20.
