The New South Wales Blues have won Game 1 of the State of Origin series defeating the Queensland Maroons 22-12 in Melbourne last night.

NSW Blues’ James Tedesco was the best player on the field last night as he scored a try and made 224 running metres, two line breaks and 16 tackle busts.

Latrell Mitchell, Tom Trbojevic and Josh Addo-Carr also scored for the Blues.

Valentine Holmes put most of the points on the board for the Maroons as he scored a try and made two conversions.

Dane Gagai also crossed over for Queensland.

It was a match that marked the end of an era for Queensland – with so many familiar and successful faces not around.

NSW Blues will now head to Sydney to close the book on one of the most successful reigns in rugby league history.
