Members of the South Pacific Games Council, meeting in Rarotonga, have decided not to amend the Games Charter, voting instead to maintain the document that was re-written in 2006. As a consequence, a push to loosen the restrictions on eligibility, did not win approval.

Minogue said they are sticking with the rules as they are now, which means you need to be a citizen of the country and have five years of residency before you are eligible to compete in the Games.
