The Rewa soccer team after winning the 2011 BOG title

The Rewa soccer side will be hoping to rediscover the form which saw them win the BOG title two years in a row in 2010 and 2011.

With players like goalkeeper, Simione Tamanisau, Lorima Dau, Simione Maikali, Misaele Draunibaka and Epeli Saukuru, the team is looking to restore lost glory this year.

Coach Marika Rodu said their opening pool match against Labasa today will be very tough as Rewa has not been able to beat the Babasiga Lions this year in the National Soccer League and in the Vodafone Fiji Fact.

He added that they are working around the clock to get three points from the first match.

Rewa last won the BOG title in 2011 when they defeated Suva 4-3 in penalty kicks.

Rewa will face Labasa in their opening match at 1pm at Govind Park.

In other matches Nadroga will take on Suva at 3pm, Navua will play Lautoka at 5.30pm while Ba will host Nadi at 7.30pm.

You can catch the live commentaries of the Labasa-Rewa and Nadroga-Suva matches on our sister station, Radio Sargam.

We would like to apologise to all our listeners around the country and the world who are unable to make it to Govind Park that we have been directed by Fiji Football Association not to broadcast any live commentaries of the Ba soccer team’s pool matches in the Battle of the Giants tournament which kicks off today.
