11-year-old Esiteri Nabou of Samabula Primary School got the surprise of her life when Vodafone Fiji 7s Coach Ben Ryan and former 15s player Viliame Satala congratulated her for winning the Land Rover Rugby World Cup Mascot today.
The Year 6 student said she never expected to win and prayed hard that she would get selected.
Esiteri’s mother Sai Nabou said they kept the news hidden from her since Wednesday and they also had to cancel their getaway trip to the West so that she could be in school today to be surprised.
Sai Nabou said she is excited and proud of her youngest daughter’s achievement.
She said her husband had encouraged Esiteri to enter the Land Rover Rugby World Cup competition.
Meanwhile, Coach Ben Ryan said it is going to be a life time opportunity for the 11-year-old girl.
Fiji is pooled with Wales, Australia, England and Uruguay in the Rugby World Cup.
Fiji will play England in Twickenham in the opening match at 7am Saturday 19th September.
