The Crusaders will be sweating on the fitness of Fijian wing, Jone Macilai over the next few days after he walked off with a suspected broken arm in their pre‑season match against the Highlanders last Saturday.
This was the second injury after half back Willi Heinz broke his left leg while attempting a tackle in the second quarter.
This has forced the Crusaders to make an SOS call to veteran halfback Andy Ellis who may not return until early March if his Japanese club goes all the way to the final, meaning Blackadder has a selection headache on his hands for the early rounds.
The Crusaders will face the Rebels in the opening round of Super Rugby on the 13th of next month.
