Lomaiwai Receives Boost

The Lomawai Secondary School U19 rugby team's preparation for the Coca-Cola Zero Deans trophy quarterfinals against giants Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) received a timely boost with former national 15s representative Isaia Rasila and Jonetani Waqa helping the side out in training.

The Nadroga based school will be making their second appearance in the quarterfinal after coming out as the runner up to Ratu Navula Secondary in the Western Zone.

Coach Joe Tikoisuva is relying on the knowledge of Rasila to help his young forwards match RKS who are known for their aggressive approach when they reach the quarterfinal stages.

The Lomawai side will have the services of some players who played in the Stallions side during the Colonial Cup competition and will not lack experience coming into the match against favourites RKS.

Meanwhile, this week’s Deans quarterfinals will start at 8am tomorrow with the Tier 2 competition.

In the Tier 1 U19 grade quarterfinals on Saturday, Lelean will take on Marist, RKS faces Lomawai Secondary, Ratu Navula goes up against Nasinu and in the feature match at 3.30pm, Queen Victoria School (QVS) will play Suva Grammar.

You can catch the live commentary of the Grammar/QVS match on our sister station Viti FM.
