The Hurricanes are favourites to win the tough New Zealand conference in Super Rugby 2016, according to Stuff website readers.
Chris Boyd’s team has received 40% of votes in a recent poll asking “Which team will win the NZ conference in Super Rugby this season?”
Despite losing a handful of stars since last year's competition, the capital team still boasts an impressive squad including World Cup winners TJ Perenara, Beauden Barrett, Julian Savea and Dane Coles as they look to defend their NZ conference title.
They are the only New Zealand team not to have claimed a Super Rugby title.
Last year’s Super Rugby winners, the Highlanders, gained 24% of votes ahead of the new‑look Blues on 15 per cent and the Chiefs 11 per cent.
The seven‑time Super Rugby‑winning Crusaders are expected to struggle, with only 10 per cent of more than 80,000 votes in the non‑scientific poll.
