Australia has won the Sydney 7s after thrashing South Africa 29-0 in front of their home crowd.
It was an emotional win for veteran James Stannard who is playing his last game in Sydney this season.
Australia dominated throughout as they showed a different class performance compared to their 9th place finish in Cape Town last month.
Australian Captain Lewis Holand led by example as he scored the first try followed by Stannard as they led South Africa 14-0 at halftime.
Australia continued their dominance and took their chances in the second half as they scored three more tries.
It has been 16 years since Australia won a tournament on their home soil.
Looking at the World Sevens Series points table, South Africa has taken the lead with 58 points, New Zealand is in second place with 54 points, Australia has moved up to third place with 43 points, Argentina is in fourth place with 41 points while the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team has dropped to fifth place with 40 points.
The next tournament will be held in Hamilton next weekend.
