Public safety in Ba is expected to improve with the installation of 20 CCTV cameras at key locations as part of a $77,050 project aimed at assisting Police in combating crime.
Acting Chairman of the Ba Riverside Carnival Committee Anil Amin says the cameras will cover areas including the Ba Market, bus stand, main town, Varadoli and other identified areas.
In an interview with fijivillage News, Amin says the project is a long-term investment for Ba, and they want to ensure that people do not live in fear of crime.
He says this will benefit the town for years to come.
He says they have been advised by Fintec that the installation of the cameras will take about six weeks.
This follows the signing of an agreement with Fintec Solutions PTE Limited.

Amin says the CCTV network will be monitored from the Ba Police Station.
He says CCTV footage can also assist the Ba Town Council in taking action against people caught littering.
Amin says the project had been in the pipeline for about three years and was initially proposed to assist Police in combating crime in identified red-zone areas.
