Former Fijian Broadcasting Corporation Chief Executive Officer Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and current Chief Financial Officer Vimlesh Sagar have sought further details from FICAC regarding the charge of causing a loss.
Sagar's lawyer Ritesh Singh says he requires more specific information to understand the alleged $84,000 loss.
Both their lawyers say they had written to FICAC on November 18th, 2025, requesting further details, but only received a two-page response yesterday, which is insufficient.
Singh says the defence wants the trial to proceed fairly, but at this stage they are unable to fully prepare without the requested details.
Sayed-Khaiyum’s lawyer, Gul Fatima also told the court that specific documents are needed to clarify how the loss was allegedly caused.
Both men earlier pleaded not guilty to charges relating to the tender and procurement of a 3.0-litre Volkswagen Touareg valued at $207,470.
FICAC lawyer Josann Pene argued that the issue raised by the defence is a matter for trial and said they will await the defence’s letter before responding.
The matter has been adjourned to July 10th for a pre-trial conference.
The trial is scheduled to run from November 2nd to 6th.
