Son escapes safely as fire destroys family home
A five-bedroom double-storey house has been destroyed in a fire at Namara, Labasa, at around 7.30 this morning.

A relative of the family, Sam Mudaliar, says the fire started early this morning and is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.

Mudaliar says the owner's grandson was sleeping inside the house when he noticed smoke filling the building.

He managed to wake up in time and safely escaped from the house before the fire spread.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.


The house, valued at approximately $500,000, was extensively damaged in the blaze.

The National Fire Authority is investigating the exact cause of the fire.
