Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the reduced budget allocation for the Fiji Police Force does not mean there is a lack of Government commitment.
Responding to questions on whether the lower allocation for Police, particularly in relation to transnational crime, signals a lack of commitment from Government, Rabuka said it does not.
He says any gaps that may arise will be covered by Fiji's partners.
Rabuka says a lot of the gaps that are going to appear, will be covered by the country's partners.
His comments come after concerns were raised about the reduced allocation for the Fiji Police Force in the 2026-2027 National Budget and its potential impact on efforts to address transnational crime.
Meanwhile, $226.5 million has been allocated to the Fiji Police Force in the 2026/2027 National Budget, compared to $240.3 million allocated in the 2025/2026 National Budget.
