Digital literacy should become a core part of Fiji's education system to better prepare students for higher education, employment and everyday life.
Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School student Palavana Singh made the submission to the Constitution Review Commission, saying Fiji's education system must evolve alongside rapid technological changes.
Singh says while Section 31 of the 2013 Constitution guarantees the right to education, students should also receive an education that prepares them for the digital world.

She says technology now influences almost every career, making digital skills essential rather than optional.
Singh says although many students use mobile phones and social media every day, this does not mean they have the professional digital skills needed for higher education and future employment.
She is recommending that digital literacy become an essential part of every student's education, with schools integrating digital learning alongside traditional teaching methods.
Singh says this will better prepare students with the practical skills they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
