Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Faiyaz Koya

Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Faiyaz Koya says the ministry is in the process of issuing approvals notices to regularize 54 families in the Navakai Informal Subdivision.

While responding to National Federation Party Parliamentarian Prem Singh’s question as to when the Navakai squatter settlement subdivision and the resettlement of squatter residence will commence, Koya says that scheme plan has been approved for the Navakai informal settlement subdivision.

The Minister adds that there will be 67 residential lots, one commercial lot and one open space within the area.

He says the subdivision will have 13 vacant lots.

SODELPA MP Niko Nawaikula asked Koya to assure that the scheme plan complies with all statuary requirements.

Koya responded that it was a fascinating question and that Nawaikula as a lawyer should know that nothing gets passed without all the necessary approvals in place.
