Fijian Govt and European Union to sign agreement today

The Fijian Government and the European Union will be signing a financing agreement worth $7.5 million Euros today.

This has been confirmed by the EU Press and Information Officer, Nazeem Kasim who says the program is designed to enhance the performance of the justice system in Fiji and facilitate more access for underprivileged and vulnerable groups.

Kasim says that this will be funded by the EU under the 11th European Development Fund which will be implemented by the United Nations Development Programme.

He adds that this will be a five year program.

Attorney‑General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Chief Justice Anthony Gates, Chairperson of the Legal Aid Commission Sharvada Sharma and UNDP Resident Representative Osnat Lubrani will be at the signing of the agreement.
