Awareness campaigns and advocacy on cancer has gained momentum again with a number of companies coming together to support the Fiji Cancer Society and organizing Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea sessions to raise funds for cancer patients.

Credit Corporation (Fiji) Limited today organized a morning tea at its head office in Suva.

Cancer survivor Laisa Vulakoro shared her story of her fight against cancer.

She was diagnosed in 2008 with brain tumor, at the time her son was only 4 months old.

Vulakoro says after being told of her condition she was overcome with shock and stress.

She never thought that this would happen to her.

Vulakoro says the endless support from her husband and her family and their understanding toward her sickness was what helped her through her journey.

President of the Fiji Cancer Society Phillip Low believes people should not die from cancer.

He says many people are still shying away from being checked and events such as Fiji’s Biggest morning tea gives them a platform to create more awareness on cancer.

Credit Corporation’s General Manager Jason Chandra says they believe that becoming an advocate helps in making a difference in the lives of patients and their families.
