The Nausori Town Council has been receiving applications and interest from business stakeholders that intend to build hotels near the Nausori Airport.

CEO Akhtar Ali says more hotels are expected in the vicinity of the Nausori Airport after the runway extension is completed.

He says the extension of the Nausori Airport runway has been the most anticipated development in the Nausori area this year.

One business that is already taking advantage of this is Nausori Airport Hotel which is located 2 minutes from Nausori Airport and 5 minutes from Nausori Town.

It is located at Bau Road in Nausori.

It offers 24 aircondtioned rooms at cheap prices.

Owner Nasim Prakash says they lived in Brisbane in Australia for over 30 years and decided to comeback and invest in Fiji.

She says they hope to open their swimming pool, bar and restaurant at the end of the year.

She says they hope to employ the local people in the area once the hotel is fully functional.

Work on the extension of the runway and upgrade of Nausori Airport will commence soon as Fiji Airports will pump in 60 million dollars for this major upgrade that will change the look of the current airport.

The project is expected to be completed in 2 and a half years.
