All remaining home games for Kadavu Rugby Union will now be played on Viti Levu.
The decision follows consultation and agreement with relevant stakeholders, as well as the ongoing wet weather conditions.
The Union says the decision was not taken lightly.
It says the team is immensely proud to have made history by bringing the Skipper Cup home to Kadavu, and nothing compares to playing in front of their people on their own home soil.
However, the Union says the welfare and safety of its players, visiting teams, supporters and the travelling public must come first.
It says continued wet weather, rough seas and strong winds have made maritime travel increasingly difficult and uncertain.
With ongoing weather warnings from the Fiji Meteorological Service, the Union says it believes the responsible decision is to heed those warnings rather than encourage hundreds of people to travel by sea in unsafe or unpredictable conditions.
It says supporters travelling from Viti Levu to Kadavu are affected, as are people from around the island who travel by boat to attend matches.
The Union says rugby is important, but no game is more important than a life.
It says relocating the remaining home fixtures to Viti Levu will give the teams and supporters greater certainty and safer access by road.
The Union says with the school holidays also underway, the move provides an opportunity for families and the Kadavu community on Viti Levu to come together and support their team.
Its first relocated home fixture will see Kadavu take on Lautoka this Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
The Union is calling on the Kadavu community throughout the Western Division, Suva and across Viti Levu to come out in numbers and support the team.
The Union says they may have moved the venue, but they have not moved the Vanua, and wherever Kadavu plays, Kadavu is home.
The Kadavu men's and women's teams each have one win in the Skipper Cup and Subrails Marama Cup Competitions, and will be looking to improve their performances in the coming matches.
This week, Kadavu will face Lautoka in both the Skipper Cup and Subrails Marama Cup.
The women's match will kick off at 2pm, followed by the men's match at 4pm.
Both matches will be played at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
