Members of the Bayview Heights community in Suva were hosted to a Fun Day for their Neighbourhood Watch by the Bayview Council yesterday for the launch of their new neighbourhood logo and mascot as well as reminding them to look out for each other.
Bayview Council member, Charles Wakeham says he has not heard of any other neighbourhood that does this type of awareness, as they want to be different and stand out and lead, while the others follow.
Wakeham says this is the first time they have invited their neighbours to come out and be part of the event in partnership with Health Masters medical team for free check-ups, the Fiji Police Force, Fijian Elections Office, Telecom Fiji Limited, FMF, and the Suva City Council.
He says the Police are very instrumental from the day they started their Bayview Watch, and they conduct patrols every evening until the early hours of the morning.
The Council member says they have a Neighbourhood Watch Viber group which the Police are in as well so if something happens in the area the Police are notified immediately.
He says another thing that they have are the 9 mini billboards which have different messages or concepts on safety and looking out for their neighbours, placed all throughout Bayview Heights.
Wakeham also explained why the Bayview Heights Neighbourhood mascot is a bee.

He says they want to be there to support their neighbours because that's what good neighbours do, and like their slogan says, looking out for each other.
Wakeham says they just want to share love to all their neighbours, and thank God that he has given them this opportunity to keep everyone together and keep going.
