A parent of a player from the Suva Grammar School Under-18 Super Deans championship-winning rugby team has told fijivillage News that her son and his teammates could not stop crying after learning of the passing of their coach, Epeli Osborne.
Osborne’s passing has left his family, friends and the rugby community mourning the loss of a man remembered for his dedication to developing young rugby players and his love for his family.
In a heartfelt message, his wife Lavenia Yana says Osborne passed away peacefully at their home, leaving the family struggling to come to terms with his loss.
Yana describes him as a trusted brother, a dutiful son, a loyal friend, a wonderful uncle, son-in-law and brother-in-law, and above all, her beloved husband.
She says words cannot fully express how much Osbourne meant to their family and how deeply he will be missed.
Osbourne was a dedicated high school rugby coach who played an important role in the lives of the young players he mentored.
His wife says the memories they shared and the love he gave their family will remain with them forever.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be finalised and will be announced by the family once confirmed.
