Labasa College has defeated Tilak High School 2–0 in an exciting Fiji Secondary Schools Football Under-19 pool match at Subrail Park in Labasa.
Labasa College started strongly, producing impressive footwork and well-connected passes as they looked to take control of the game.
Both goals came from the penalty spot.
Tilak High pushed forward in search of goals, but Labasa College’s defence stood firm and their goalkeeper also produced an excellent performance, making important saves to ensure Tilak High could not find the back of the net before the final whistle.
Labasa College Vice Principal Mohammed Faiyaz praised the team’s performance, saying the boys played a wonderful and brilliant game.
He says the first game was tough as Tilak High is a strong team, but the players managed to secure the win.
Faiyaz also thanked the team’s sponsors, A. Khan & Services and Jeeysingh Shopping Centre, for their support.
He called on Labasa College fans to turn up in numbers and support the team in their upcoming matches.
Meanwhile in other Under-19 results, Lautoka Central College defeated Baulevu High School 1-0, Vashist Muni College beat Lautoka Muslim College 2-0, while Ba Sangam edged Suva Muslim 1-0.
In the Open Girls division, Waiqele Secondary School and All Saints Secondary School played to a goalless draw, while Dreketi Central College recorded a 1-0 victory over Korovuto College.
