More than 400 arrested as PSG Champions League celebrations turn violent

More than 400 people have been arrested after celebrations over Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) Champions League final win against Arsenal turned violent across France.

France’s interior ministry says 416 people were detained, including 280 in Paris, after clashes between fans and police in the capital.

Thousands of officers were deployed as unrest disrupted public transport services, with fireworks, flares and tear gas used during confrontations in the city centre.

Authorities say seven police officers were injured, while vehicles, businesses and a bus shelter were damaged.

Footage from Paris showed burning electric bikes, flares and damage to shopfronts, while crowds also gathered along the Champs-Élysées following PSG’s penalty shootout victory.

It is the second year in a row PSG’s European success has been overshadowed by unrest, after celebrations in 2025 also turned deadly.
