Major upsets expected in 400 metres finals

The Senior Boys 400 metres heats saw Ratu Navula College from Nadi and Khalsa College from Ba emerge as strong contenders, posing a challenge to the traditional giants.

Their performances have set up what promises to be an exciting final tomorrow.

In the Senior Girls 400 metres heats, Akineta Senokonoko of Suva Grammar School won the first heat and is now the favourite heading into the final.

For the Intermediate Boys 400 metres, Queen Victoria School lived up to expectations in the heats, winning comfortably with Eneri Nadule setting the pace.

The Intermediate Girls 400 metres final is shaping up to be a close contest between Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School, Grammar, and Adi Cakobau School, all of whom impressed in their heats.

The Junior Boys 400 metres heats were as intense as expected, with Elijah Vakacegu of Grammar clocking the fastest time and establishing himself as the favourite for the final.

In the Junior Girls 400 metres heats, Ra High School, Grammar, Wainimala Secondary School, and Natabua High School all secured wins in their respective heats and will compete for gold in the final.

Adi Ceva Lutumailagi of Natabua is the favourite for the title.

Marist and International School Suva are the favourites in the Sub-Junior division.
