Road safety education continues to play a vital role in protecting young pedestrians, with the Land Transport Authority partnering with CJ Patel (Pacific) PTE Ltd to support school patrol programmes in Tailevu.
The initiative saw road patrol equipment and road safety educational materials handed over to Dravo District School, Cautata District School, Nakelo District School and Nuku District School.
The programme aims to equip students with practical road safety knowledge while strengthening school patrol efforts to keep children safe during busy morning and afternoon traffic periods.
Through the initiative, students are learning safe road practices and developing habits that can help prevent accidents.
LTA Acting Chief Operations Officer, Mosese Foalo says the safety of school children remains a top priority.
Foalo says thousands of children leave their homes for school every day, relying on adults, drivers and authorities to ensure their safety, and the handover reflects LTA’s commitment to that responsibility.
The equipment, donated by the Accident Compensation Commission Fiji, includes traffic cones, A-frame signs, reflective safety vests and lollipop stop signs.
CJ Patel (Pacific) PTE Ltd also contributed raincoats, umbrellas, road safety pledge boards and educational posters to reinforce important road safety messages.
LTA says partnerships and education remain key to building a stronger road safety culture and ensuring safer communities for future generations.
