Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the Joint Taskforce operations involving Police and the military are going well, with clear boundaries understood by both forces.
While responding to questions on the operations currently underway, Rabuka says the Police are leading the operations, while the RFMF is providing support.

Meanwhile, Commander of the Joint Task Force Command at Black Rock Camp in Nadi, Brigadier General Manoa Gadai has sent a strong warning to everyone involved in the illicit drug trade that the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and Fiji Police Force Joint Counter Narcotics Task Force will relentlessly pursue those who profit from the suffering of our people, and there will be no safe haven for criminals involved in this illegal trade.
While speaking at the launch of the Joint Counter Narcotics Task Force Operation (JCNTF) in the Western Division, Brigadier General Gadai said the RFMF and Police wish to send a very strong and clear message to all drug lords, criminal syndicates, traffickers, suppliers, distributors, and those involved in the use and facilitation of illicit drugs that their activities are destroying families, communities, and the future of our nation, and they will not be tolerated.
He says that the full weight of the law, supported by the combined strength and capabilities of the RFMF and Police, will be brought against all individuals and networks engaged in these illegal activities.
Brigadier General Gadai says this operation marks the beginning of a sustained, coordinated, and aggressive campaign to safeguard Fiji’s national security, protect future generations, and restore safety and stability within our communities.
While hosting the Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, together with his team of police officers, for a high-level joint operational meeting focused on strengthening coordination, planning, and execution of this critical mission, Brigadier General Gadai reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the RFMF to fully support the Police-led RFMF/FPF Joint Counter Narcotics Task Force Operation in the Western Division.
He emphasised the importance of unity of purpose, unity in command, and unity in effort, stressing that close cooperation between the RFMF and FPF will be essential in successfully confronting Fiji’s existential threat posed by the use and abuse of illicit drugs.
Brigadier General Gadai further reassured the RFMF/FPF Joint Task Force that all necessary resources, manpower, operational support, and logistical capabilities have been committed to ensure the mission is carried out effectively, professionally, and decisively.
