Speight asks FBC for formal apology

George Speight concerned about false media report about him
2000 coup leader, George Speight confirms that he has not had any formal communications with the Fijian Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Speight has made it clear that the reports suggesting otherwise are completely unfounded and do not reflect the truth, that is, he has made no commitments to appear before the Commission.

In light of this misinformation, Speight is urging the media outlet responsible for these claims to retract the story and issue a formal apology.

He believes that responsible journalism is essential to maintain public trust and integrity in the news dissemination process.

Speight emphasizes the importance of accurate reporting and the potential harm that misinformation can cause.

He is committed to providing clarity and will address any further inaccuracies regarding this matter.

Speight wishes the Truth and Reconciliation Commission all the best in their work.

State owned broadcaster, FBC has reported that George Speight has expressed interest in appearing before the Commission.

Speight stresses he has never spoken to the Acting Commission Chair, Sekove Naqiolevu.

We have sought comments from FBC.

They are yet to respond.
