At just 14 years old, Grace Elizabeth Khelan is already setting her sights on the Olympic Games, with support from FMF helping to boost her journey in swimming.
Khelan, who is a Year 9 student at Jai Narayan College, says swimming has been a childhood passion inspired by her siblings, who were also strong swimmers.
She says she progressed in the sport after discovering her own potential and became increasingly motivated to pursue swimming after learning about drowning cases in Fiji.
Khelan is now balancing swimming with paddling, running, gym sessions and her academic commitments.
She says despite the demanding schedule, she is able to manage both sport and school with the help of a strong support system including her parents, coach and family.
Khelan adds her typical day begins at 4am, followed by stretching and an early morning swimming session from 5.30am to 7am before heading to school.
She says after finishing classes at around 3.20pm, she returns to training, with additional swimming sessions scheduled throughout the week.
The 14-year-old says preparation for her Olympic ambition includes swimming, running, paddling and gym work, which she says is progressing well.
The young swimmer urges others to keep trying, training and to never give up.
Khelan's father Michael Khelan says to swim in the Olympics has been a dream for her daughter and the support from FMF is a great opportunity to fulfill that dream.
Meanwhile, FMF has signed a three-year contract with Khelan as its ambassador and will be supporting her in her bid for the 2028 Olympics.
