For Shinal Devi of Buca, Savusavu, becoming a teacher was more than a career choice - it was a dream her father had for her from a very young age, and one she has now fulfilled.
Devi has graduated from the University of the South Pacific with a Bachelor of Education (Primary).
She says her decision to become a teacher was largely influenced by her father.

Devi dedicates her achievement to her husband, parents, sisters and two children, who supported her throughout her studies.
She says the journey was not easy as she had to balance her studies with family commitments and responsibilities.
She says her Year 5 daughter was one of her biggest supporters and would encourage her whenever she was feeling down.
She adds that despite her young age, her daughter understood what she was going through and would often tell her that she wanted to see her graduate and wear her graduation cap.
Devi says her husband was unable to attend the graduation in person but watched the ceremony live from home.
She also thanked her parents and sister for the support they provided throughout her journey.
Devi is encouraging students to remain committed to their studies, saying education plays an important role in people's lives, particularly in today’s world.
She hopes students will one day experience their own graduation moment, whether they are pursuing a degree, master’s degree, diploma or certificate.
