Full emergency declared at Nadi International Airport after aircraft reports oil leak, safe landing ensures no disruptions

The Nadi International Airport confirmed that a full emergency was declared yesterday evening after Air Traffic Control notified them of an aircraft's turn back to the airport.

The aircraft, which had originally departed for Sydney, reported a suspected oil leak in one of its engines.

The Airport says in response, Airport Emergency Services were immediately activated, and the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) was established following the Nadi Airport Emergency Plan.

It says the aircraft safely landed at 7:50pm, and after the landing, the pilot confirmed normal operations, with no further issues identified.

Following routine safety and operational checks, the Airport says the Full Emergency phase was cancelled, and all emergency services were stood down.

The airport also clarified that normal airport operations were not impacted during the emergency.

The Nadi International Airport expressed its gratitude to all emergency responders and stakeholders for their quick coordination and professionalism in ensuring the safety of passengers, crew, and airport personnel.
